Gold nanocages entering into the realm of high-contrast photoacoustic ocular imaging
Ultra-fast microwave oven synthesized gold nanocages were successfully demonstrated for high-contrast photoacoustic ocular imaging for the first time. Methods were described for the synthesis, characterization, and application of quickly synthesized gold nanocages in diagnostic ocular imaging using a porcine eye model. This work points out the futuristic application of site-targeted gold nanocages as an exogenous high-contrast agent in photoacoustic imaging for detecting ocular diseases and cancers, like uveal melanoma.
